Reusable Pads

We live in the 21st century, so why should we even consider returning to reusable pads or reusable incontinence inserts? There are many reasons: comfort, environmental benefits and considerable savings.

I have spoken with hundreds of women and men about personal hygiene. For some people, reusable pads—whether for menstruation or urinary incontinence—remain a controversial topic. After all, the easiest option is to buy disposable pads at the supermarket and throw them away after use. But is that always the best solution?

For me, the greatest advantage of reusable pads is their comfort. The difference between plastic and fabric against the skin is enormous. Wearing a reusable pad feels like wearing slightly thicker underwear—they really are comfortable. The financial benefit is equally important: you can easily calculate how much you spend on disposable pads each month and how quickly reusable pads will pay for themselves. With urinary incontinence, when pads may be needed every day, the savings are even greater. Reusable products also help the environment. Poland alone has around 10 million menstruating women, each using an average of 15 pads a month—that is 150 million used pads every month. And this calculation covers menstruation only; many women and men use liners or pads throughout the month.
