How do “dry bum”/“dry diaper” inserts and corn-based tissues work?

How do “dry bum”/“dry diaper” inserts and corn-based tissues work?

When putting together a range of reusable diapers, in addition to covers, pockets, and a huge selection of inserts, we can also add two seemingly inconspicuous items: “dry bum” inserts and corn-based tissues. What are they and how do they work?

“Dry bum” insert
A “dry bum” insert is a piece of microfleece, the same as the one found inside the pocket. A “dry bum” insert is recommended when using wraps – as an additional layer placed on top of a terry cloth diaper, hemp prefold, or other insert that remains damp after getting wet. The microfleece draws moisture into the insert, keeping your baby dry.

Corn paper

Corn paper works in a similar way. It also has the property of drawing moisture into the insert. In addition (and this is its main use), it allows you to easily remove poop from the diaper. We recommend watching our video, where we show exactly how the “dry bum” insert and corn paper work.
