Is it time to make peace with the terry cloth diaper?

Our parents' or grandparents' generation may have somewhat demonized terry cloth diapers. I, myself, have often heard chilling stories about how you had to boil the diapers on the stove, how babies' bottoms constantly got irritated in these diapers, and how you had to iron them... Oh! So much misfortune in those stories.
The truth is, however, that development occurs in every field, including reusable diapers. Using a terry cloth diaper as a reusable insert is not only possible but also beneficial and convenient in many ways. Seriously! These are no longer the times of our grandmothers. No worries!
How do we use terry cloth diapers?
-
In a pocket diaper
-
In a wrap
In a wrap
You can use a terry cloth diaper as an insert in a wrap. Fold the terry cloth diaper properly, for example, into a rectangle, and place it in the wrap. You can also fasten it onto the child using a Snappi fastener (available in our store). Once fastened, the terry cloth diaper stays comfortably on the baby’s bottom, doesn’t slip off, and holds everything in place. Over it, you put the waterproof layer – the wrap.
In a pocket diaper
Terry cloth diapers are an excellent insert for pocket cloth diapers. Fold the terry cloth diaper into a rectangle and place it inside the pocket diaper as an insert.
Advantages of terry cloth diapers:
-
They are inexpensive
-
Easy to wash (can be boiled)
-
Dry quickly when hung out to dry
-
Very absorbent
-
Soft
-
Made from cotton, a material safe for babies (make sure the diapers are not bleached with chlorine)
-
Because the fibers of terry cloth are relatively loosely woven, when used as an insert in reusable diapers, the diaper allows for excellent ventilation of the baby’s bottom, which is important, for example, during the healing of diaper rashes or for babies with other skin problems.
