Reusable diapers: how to use them?

Reusable diapers: how to use them?

Reusable diapers seem to be a relic of a bygone era. Who hasn't heard our grandparents and parents complain about using cloth diapers and having to boil and wash them? However, modern reusable diapers have changed significantly: the material they are made of, their appearance, and their aesthetics have all changed. Only their function remains the same. Using reusable diapers is relatively simple, and I would even go so far as to say that it is pleasant: both for the child and the caregiver.

Reusable diapers
In our numerous blog posts, we have described the different types of reusable diapers. If you have trouble seeing the difference between a wrap, a pocket diaper, and an all-in-one diaper, I refer you to the following article: https://pupus.pl/Kieszonka-i-otulacz-blog-pol-1501716387.html

In this article, we will focus on the issue of using reusable diapers.

Reusable diapers: how to use them? Step by step, or something for little ones.

1. Buying or borrowing reusable diapers
To use reusable diapers, you need to... have them. You can buy a new set of diapers. Interestingly, reusable diapers can also be rented from diaper libraries. Every major city has a diaper library where, for a small fee, you can rent different types of diapers. This makes it easy to test which model is right and most suitable for you and your child.

2. Put the diaper on your baby
For the diaper to work properly, it should fit well. Pay particular attention to:

- matching the size of the diaper to the weight and size of your baby;

- adjusting the diaper to fit the width of the waist;

- adjusting the diaper length, i.e., shortening or lengthening the diaper as needed;

- pressing the elastic bands deep into the groin.

We describe how to fit a diaper correctly in our article: https://pupus.pl/Po-czym-poznac-ze-pieluszka-wielorazowa-jest-dobrze-zalozona-i-dopasowana-blog-pol-1519249582.html

3. Wait until your baby pees and/or poops
Have you put on the diaper? Now it's time to admire the colorful diaper. Reusable diapers are cute, aren't they? Be careful – it's really addictive and you'll want more and more colorful designs. Diapers help you learn about your child's physiology: it's relatively easy to learn to recognize when your child needs to go. When they do, it's time to change their diaper.

4. Take the diaper off your child
Take off the used reusable diaper, wash your child, and put on a clean reusable diaper.

5. Store the diaper until washing
Put the used diaper in a dirty diaper pail, for example, to wait for washing. If the diaper has been soiled with number two (i.e., the child has pooped), remove the poop to the toilet and you can pre-wash the diaper in cold water. Disposable corn or bamboo tissues help remove larger stains.

6. Wash and dry the diaper
When you have collected enough dirty reusable diapers, it's time to wash them. You can find detailed washing instructions at: https://pupus.pl/Brudna-robota-czyli-o-praniu-pieluszek-blog-pol-1501744660.html

7. Put the diaper back on your child
A washed and dried diaper can be reused. After a while, you will see how using reusable diapers brings financial savings, but also less waste, and for moms who love beauty – it has wonderful aesthetic qualities. Not to mention the health benefits.

We also recommend taking a look at our infographic, which describes how to use reusable diapers in a detailed, simple, and accessible way: https://pupus.pl/Pranie-pieluch-infografika-blog-pol-1531295670.html

Using reusable diapers is not difficult. It only takes a few days to gain skill and confidence and find your routine in the diaper use cycle.
