Welcome!

By deciding to use reusable or disposable diapers, we choose a certain type of comfort while giving up another. Why? Because using reusable diapers requires us to be systematic, and using disposable diapers also depends on being systematic, though in a different sense. We choose what is convenient and comfortable for us, which is reflected in the regularly repeated pattern: buy – use – throw away, or buy – use – wash – use – wash, and so on.
Do we prefer remembering to buy regularly and keeping constant control over expenses, or do we prefer regular washing and reusing things? There is no single right answer, and that’s why I’m grateful for the possibility of choosing.
For our parents, reusable diapers were not a choice but a burdensome everyday reality: long hours spent with a soapy “Frania” washing machine, meters of drying cotton gauze, and the hard-to-get waterproof cover found “under the counter.” Today, for young mothers, disposable diapers are associated with convenience, but sometimes they add discomfort. Young parents seek savings and solutions that are kinder to the household budget; they look for support on online forums and for remedies for diaper rash, allergies, and skin irritations. They follow trends, fulfilling their needs and dreams connected with their newborn child.
The way and purpose of using disposable and reusable diapers are basically the same. We put a clean diaper on the baby, remove it when it’s dirty, put on a new clean one, and so on. We repeat this for the first two, even two and a half years of the child’s life. It’s an activity we cannot avoid repeating several times a day (unless we practise Elimination Communication). The older the child, the fewer diapers are used, but diapers remain a basic hygiene essential. The choice between reusable and disposable diapers is individual and depends on various factors—comfort, cost, environmental concerns, health reasons, lifestyle, and many others.
Today’s post opens our diapering blog. New articles will appear every 10 days—always on the 1st, 10th, and 20th of each month. We will take a closer look at different diapers, inserts, accessories, and cleaning products. We will share our experience and knowledge. We will be very happy if you decide to accompany us in running the blog, choosing topics, and sharing your own experiences with diapering, ecological parenting, and budget-friendly parenting.
